Sweet Reds Smoothie Bowl

Full on food blog confession: I cannot stand strawberry banana smoothies. Even the smell or the memory of the smell revolts me. Don’t ask me why. The only answer I have for you is that I’m a living being with likes and dislikes. Just as every other living being on this earth.

I like bananas and I like strawberries. I just don’t like them together. Gross. It just smells like…. I dunno… really old bubble gum or something. Stuck to the seat of your favorite sundress on a sweaty summer day.

If a strawberry should ever find its way into a banana based smoothie, it must be well hidden as part of a freezer bag of cherry berry blend. In such cases, the sweet cherries, tart raspberries, and summery blueberries are enough to conceal the sneaking strawberry.

Until I noticed that bloggers web-wide were making smoothies with cauliflower chunks instead of bananas.

Well isn’t the best idea ever. Cause now I can freely use strawberries in my smoothie any time I like. And um…it gives me a secret excuse to indulge my inner sugar monster and add a bit of maple syrup. I don’t usually add sweeteners to smoothies, cause the banana is enough, but sometimes I’d really really like to. When I’m having a sugar craving and such. But since you don’t have a banana here, a little maple syrup isn’t terrible.

Cause sometimes life just calls for a few drops of extra sweetness, right?
